Decided that as LJ is still having trouble, and may be for the foreseeable future, I've copied everything on my LJ fic journal over to a new one here on DW, called (with stunning originality) library-j . All the stories came over with no difficulty, but the comments tanked. Such is life.

LJ is apparently under DDoS attack yet again, although honestly, why the hell anybody would WANT to bother attacking LJ is beyond me.  Maybe the hackers are just practicing for going after bigger fish?  No clue.

LJ isn't critical to my life, but I would be rather annoyed if it tanks completely.  Not for journal entries, which I don't do much of, but rather for the myriad fics bookmarked and referenced.  I've always used the service as more of a library than anything else, and for a while as a repository for my own writings.  Might have to investigate AOOO for archiving fic, after all.  Not that the world will end if somebody can't get to my scribblings, but it's nice for them to have a public home. :)

So, last weekend I drove down for a few days of fun and frolic at the convention formerly known as Vidcon, now going by the rather longer moniker of Southern Media Con.  Longer than the attendance list, actually, these days, as I think it clocked in at around thirty people this year.  It's a fun little fan-run con, basically just a few days of folks blithering on about their favorite shows and fanfic, and new shows and fanfic, and songvids and fanfic ... you get the idea.

I hadn't been down in a few years, as there had been a few of those pesky "personality clashes" that can make life so very interesting, but it's also one of my few opportunities to connect with some friends I rarely see otherwise.  And a fun time was had ... inbetween hauling a friend to the local ER and then home for surgery.  Across the state.  Did I mention I did a lot of driving this weekend?  Oye,

Being a mooch and a dreadful human being, I opened this account on an invite from ... somebody, I don't even remember.  Argh.  And have proceeded to keep it open ... why?  To keep my options up, I suppose, in case of LJ implosion.  Which seems fairly unlikely, honestly, despite the periodic forecasts of death and destruction every time the LJ staff does something that irritates (read: scares) the various fen.  And then it blows over, as these things do.

So, I suppose I should post here now and again, purely for my own amusement.  Any fiction I might produce goes up on my fic journal library_j, and I'll figure out how to do the cool linky thing on that later.  Not that there's been much production of fic lately, since my urge for SPN has eased.  As all my urges do, over the years:  I think I'm really quite guilty of the epithet "fannish butterfly" in that while I settle for a while, it's rarely more than a year or two.  And I don't write fic for a fandom that I've left, although I do read.

Latest to catch my fancy is Pros, and yes, I know, the gods and several friends are laughing hysterically right now.  Because you tried to hook me on Pros back HOW many years ago?  And it didn't take.  Oh, the lure of modern tech, which makes those nice clear, color-correct versions available FOR FREE on the 'net.

Sigh.
